Xiao Song Jiang

OPAM (Oil Painters of America Master Signature Member)

 

Xiao Song Jiang, was born in 1955, in Wuhan, China. In 1978 he studied fine arts at the China Academy of Art, formerly the Zhejiang Art Academy, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1982, then began lecturing watercolor at the City of Wuhan Construction College. Four years after, Song was selected to further develop his skill at the provincial Hubei Art Academy. During his time there, he accumulated years of experience, painting, sketching, and working for a refined grasp of color and technique.

Throughout his early career, Song has received numerous awards as one of the representatives of Chinese paintings with works displayed at international art exhibitions in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Turkey, and Singapore. He also had the honor of having four representative works collected and preserved at the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) and three works at the Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum.

In 1988, Song immigrated to Canada and invested a passion for its vivid scenes of the broad North American landscape. While there, he travelled widely from coast to coast and gained some 20 years of experience forming his unique style of a mixture of brush and knife with attention to the unique natural detail, richer handling of light, shadow and depth in each piece, which has won him numerous awards in North American exhibitions and art festivals. He now lives by the lake in Toronto, Canada with his wife and son.

He is influenced by the beautiful land and friendly people. Through his paintings, he wishes to express his love to the North American landscape and all its people.

Xiao Song Jiang  took the 2012 $25,000 Gold Medal Award in the Signature Division at the Oil Painters of America national exhibition in Evergreen, Colorado.

2012 – Artist Xiao Song Jiang oil painting “Tide” took the $25,000 Gold Medal Award in the Signature Division at the Oil Painters of America national exhibition in Evergreen Gallery, Colorado.

2016 – “Gondola” award OPA Eastern Regional Juried Exhibition Master Signature Division Award of Excellence award, Eisele Gallery of Fine Art.

2015 – “Venice Nights” award OPA Salon Show Master Signature Division Award of Excellence award, Beverly McNeil Gallery.

2015 – “Southern Shore” award OPA Eastern Regional Juried Exhibition Master Signature Division Award of Excellence, Eckert & Ross Fine Art.

2014 – Awarded the Oil Painters of America Master Signature Member (OPAM) by the Board of OPAR.

2014 – “Tide” award The Twelfth National Exhibition of Fine Arts China- Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Overseas Chinese Work of Excellence Award, Beijing.

2014 – “Winter of Sylvan” award OPA National Juried Exhibition Bronze Medal Award Funded by Plein Air Magazine One full-page advertisement Bennington Center for the Arts, Vermont.

2013 – “Reflection of Summer” award OPA National Juried Exhibition Associate Signature Division Seascape Award of Excellence, Insight Gallery

2012 – “Tide”, OPA National Juried Exhibition Associate Signature Division Gold Medal Award. Evergreen Fine Art Gallery

2011 – “X. Song Jiang Solo Exhibition”, P&C Art Galleries, Fairfax, VA.

1995 – City of Toronto Archives Purchase Award “Dundas Street”.

1987 – Watercolor “White Fantasy” selected, Hubei Art Academy exhibition, Hong Kong.

1987 – 8 pieces of watercolor works to participate in the Chinese Artists Association “Newcomer New Exhibition”. “Mountain people”, “Mountain City Twilight” and “Night”, was collected by China Art Museum.

1986 – Watercolor painting “Behind the Chaos”, was selected as the Excellent Award by Wuhan, Japan – Oita Youth Art Exhibition in Japan.

1984 – Watercolor painting “Day and Night”, was selected the sixth national art exhibition. Works by the China Art Museum collection.

1984 – Watercolor “Taihu Lake boat”, selected Wuhan, Chengdu Youth Art Exhibition won the gold medal.

1983 – Watercolor painting “Mountain Village”, was selected into the China Modern Watercolor Exhibition. Kuwait .
